NPC Duty
Every player in 198X gets the opportunity to play the monsters as well as the characters! To keep the game running smoothly and ensure that there is always action, every player signs up for a four hour non-player character (NPC) shift. While on shift players may play a merchant, a monster, a marauder, or a story line character. There are accommodations for anybody that may need less physically demanding duties as needed within reason. Players need to bring a set of black clothing to show that they are a non player character for the duration of their shift, and may also wear a green headband to show that they are OOC.
While the player is busy being an NPC, one of their characters can choose to be helpful to their choice of one Township off camera, so long as their reputation with that township is not negative. This can be whatever sort of relatively simple, low risk assistance the player feels is suitable to their character. This form of assistance results in gaining a point of reputation with the selected township. Alternatively, a player may elect to have their character help on behalf of another PC. Players should negotiate for the value of this service as needed, with a rough starting point being the value of uncommon materials. This allows the reputation gain to go to the employer instead, be sure to coordinate in advance so players know which township you would like them to select. For each additional 2 hours of NPC shift past the first 4, a player may select a new reputation gain, it can be the same or different and can be assigned to any of their own characters or sold to another player in the same way for more credits etc.
